Webmaster Note:  Sam Evans was actually with A 2/5 Cav at the time of his death.  He was within two weeks of going home, and had been transferred to A Company only three weeks prior to his death.  He was on the perimeter of the base camp at Phuoc Vinh during the daytime.  The NVA sprung a surprise attack, killing SGT Evans and two others.  (Source:  Richard "Doc" Bovie, prompted by a message from Jim Sims)

Was a draftee who graduated from the NCO Academy.  He joined C 2/5 in September, 1971, and was serving as a Squad Leader at the time he was killed by small arms fire.  FSB Drinnon was named in his honor.
