Summary - February 1968

Though most of the 1st Cav has moved north to I Corps near the Demilitarized Zone, C 2/5 Cav continued operating in  eastern Binh Dinh Province in the Bong Son Plains. The Tet Offensive  began on January 30th.    By mid-month, Comanche had joined the rest of the division and took up security at Camp Evans. Jorge "Doc" Comas, 2nd Platoon's medic,  with some detainees on the southeast side of the Cay Giep mountain east of Bong Son.  Notice he does not have a field pack - just two aid bags.  That may indicate he was part of a patrol that went out "light to fight."

SSG Imre Furedi enjoys a cup at the battalion mess hall on LZ English.  Outside the mess hall can be seen the insulated cans used to send hot food out to the troops in the field.  You can tell this is a "rear" area because he is wearing his Combat Infantryman's Badge on his shirt, right above the 5th Cavalry crest.

In the fore is Don Freeman, and behind him is PFC James Bateman, who was later killed on March 9.  This picture was contributed by Bateman's aunt, and we have no idea where or when it was taken.
