Summary - February 1972
C 2/5 Cav continued aggressive defensive operations in the "rocket belt" area around Bien Hoa and Ton Son Nhut. The mission was to protect the large airfields against enemy 122 mm rocket attacks. The month began enjoying a stand down at the 3rd Brigade (Sep) 1st Cavalry Division's R&R facility at Vung Tau on the coast, and ended in expectation of the company returning to the United States. Though no contact was made with the enemy, C 2/5 did locate small caches of weapons and food. The battalion was headquartered at FSB Gibraltar and maintained a radar and mortar tube presence at FSB Drinnon. (Source: 2/5 Cav S3 Daily Journal 1-29 Feb 72 and Dolf Carlson)
