Summary - October 1970
The 2/5 Cav began the month working out of FSB Silver, located 35 clicks east of Xuan Loc. The firebase was originally opened by the 199th Light Infantry Brigade, but when that unit left Vietnam earlier in October, it was abandoned. C 2/5 Cav was engaged in a firefight. As a result of that action, Mike Combs was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device.
