Summary December 1965

To be written

December 15

CPT Edward Boyt relinquished command of C 2/5 Cav to 1LT George Long at An Khe.  Both Ed Boyt and Jim Mullen believe Long was granted emergency leave to return to the US sometime during his tenure as the Commanding Officer.   If you have additional information, please send email to webmaster@tallcomanche.org.   (Source:  Ed Boyt and Jim Mullen.)

December - Exact Date Unknown

By December, things were getting to be a bit more civilized, though the 2/5 Cav Headquarters at An Khe was still in GP Medium tents.  Notice the winged badge atop the sign.  This was the original air assault badge, awarded to those who served with the 11th Air Assault Division (Test) at Ft. Benning as the airmobility concept was tested.

But there were still dirt roads around the camp, as shown in this picture of the gate into Camp Radcliff, as the main camp of the 1st Cav was called.
